Before I put the carb back on the engine, I took advantage of the extra space and fixed a problem with my choke cable. The choke was never exactly the same as the one it replaced, so it eventually worked itself through the hole in the dash. I had to remedy the situation by installing a washer.
This is the second time I have removed the switch plate and it was just as annoying the second time. The mounting brackets are held in place by the nuts that secure the heater and choke cable. This means you need to get both brackets lined up before the plate will go back into its mounting holes. To make things a little more challenging, you have to find the mounting nuts by using the force. I eventually got it all sorted, but I took some pictures to help other people in this situation. I will update on my carb progress when I get a chance to test drive the car.
