We left off yesterday having installed the headers and today, started by installing the muffler. I had done a lot of research online and had produced an idea of how to install a center mounted exhaust. (I've included some photos below) Unfortunately, after some careful measuring, the mufflers rear mounts weren't lining up with the rear end up the subframe like I was expecting. In the end, we designed some L shaped brackets to mount the muffler to the rear side of the subframe.
Once we had the muffler mounted, it was just a case of getting the mid pipe set up correctly. The center pipe I had ordered wasn't meant to line up perfectly with this setup so it required some cutting. We measured the distance between the headers and the muffler, cut the pipe to length and clamped everything up.
In the end, I'm very satisfied with the look, but a little bummed with the sound. It's no quieter than the original, broken exhaust. I'm hoping that once I can run the car without the choke on it will calm down about. At least now I shouldn't get all kinds of fumes pumped into the cabin.
